DMCA Policy

PeptideWiki respects intellectual property rights and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

What is the DMCA?

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is a U.S. federal law that provides a framework for copyright holders to request the removal of infringing content from online platforms. It also provides protections for platforms that promptly respond to valid takedown requests.

PeptideWiki is a community-driven wiki. Content is submitted by users, and while we make efforts to ensure submissions comply with copyright law, we cannot review every piece of content in advance. If you believe content on PeptideWiki infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice using the process described below.

How to Submit a Takedown Request

To submit a DMCA takedown notice, send an email to peptidewiki.org@gmail.com with the subject line DMCA Takedown Notice.

Your notice must include all of the following:

  1. 1

    Description of the copyrighted work

A clear description of the copyrighted material you claim has been infringed, including the title, author, and any registration numbers if applicable.

  2. 2

    URL of the infringing content

The specific URL(s) on pepwiki.org where the infringing material appears. Vague descriptions such as ‘content on your site’ are not sufficient.

  3. 3

    Your contact information

Your full legal name, mailing address, phone number, and email address so we can contact you.

  4. 4

    Good faith statement

A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

  5. 5

Accuracy statement under penalty of perjury

A statement that the information in the notification is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

  6. 6

    Signature

    Your physical or electronic signature.

Submitting a false DMCA claim is a serious legal matter. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees.

Response Time

We aim to acknowledge all valid DMCA notices within 3 business days. Upon receiving a valid notice, we will promptly remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content while we investigate. We will notify the user who submitted the content of the takedown.

Counter-Notice Process

If you believe your content was removed in error or that you have the right to use the material, you may submit a counter-notice. Send your counter-notice to peptidewiki.org@gmail.com with the subject line DMCA Counter-Notice.

A valid counter-notice must include:

  • Identification of the content that was removed and the URL where it previously appeared.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  • Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
  • A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located, or if outside the U.S., to the jurisdiction of any judicial district in which PeptideWiki may be found.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Upon receiving a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original complainant. If the complainant does not file a lawsuit within 10–14 business days, we may restore the removed content at our discretion.
